10 blogs I read because I am an inquirer:

10 blogs I read because I am a children's literature specialist:

  • ACHUKA -- Michael Thorn's blog and website about children's books (UK-based)
  • Read Roger -- Roger Sutton, editor of the Horn Book (US)
  • educating alice -- Monica Edinger's blog -- she's a 4th grade teacher at an elite school in NYC and I wish I could have had her as a teacher when I was a kid
  • The New Misrule Blog -- Judith Ridge's blog -- from Australia

10 blogs I read because I love to read:

10 blogs of teachers who teach me along with their students:

  • Edinger House: The Life and Times of a Fourth Grade Class at the Dalton School in New York City (the same Monica Edinger as above)
  •  Cool Cat Teacher -- Vicki Davis, a teacher in Georgia, USA
  •

NB:  A great place to discover educational blogs worth reading is to go through the list of "Eddies", winners of the EduBlog awards

Examples of blogs used to discuss books with students:

  • Canadian Berries -- the blog I set up for high school students at the Canadian International School in 2006 when studying THE JOY LUCK CLUB
  • Year 9 Book Raps -- I'm not sure I like this set-up, but it does show how categories can be used to accommodate different reading groups in the same year
  •  Rockin' Reads -- "a place for students to discuss what they’re reading, make recommendations to others, and talk about books"
